Personal Goals

The first step towards attaining a goal is defining it. At least that's what I've always been lead to believe. This journey started for me last spring when I thought "I won't have any options if I never apply to schools." Which  then lead to me being accepted by Wayne State and actually deciding to persue my masters in Library and Information Science.
Now that's a broad goal. At the time I spend a lot of time defining it. I knew I wanted to work with books, preferably old books, in a professional setting. I wanted to be responsible for preservation and documentation. A lot of things whirled around in my head and I didn't really know how to articulate them.

Now I have a better idea of what I'm working towards. After learning about how large of a role technology plays in the LIS community I started to lean towards incorporating that into my goals. As of right now I'm interested in being a Digital Archivist.  I plan on persuing an Archival Certificate along with my MLIS. Hopefully with a lot of hard work and some base knowledge I'll be able to achieve these goals and leave Wayne State well on my way to getting a job that will utilize all of the skills I've learned.
